Description
The SMSTS Refresher is a two-day course for those who have previously passed the full SMSTS and need to renew their certification before it expires. It brings candidates up to date with the latest changes in health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation and their impact on site management. Certification is valid for a further five years on successful completion.
Objectives
Candidates will update their knowledge of current legislation, refresh their understanding of their responsibilities as site managers, and ensure their approach to health and safety management reflects the latest industry requirements and best practice.
Course Contents
Updates to health and safety legislation, changes to CDM Regulations, review of risk assessment and control measures, current industry best practice and communication. Assessment is by written examination.
This course is intended for project managers, site managers and supervisors as well as proprietors of small to medium sized companies. Client-based personnel would also benefit from attending the course. Possession of this qualification is listed in the Approved Code of Practice for the Construction (Design and Management) (CDM) Regulations as a demonstration of competence in the role of site manager.
