Description

Suitable for anyone who works with or around abrasive wheels, including portable grinders, angle grinders, disc cutters and bench or pedestal mounted grinding machines. No prior experience is required, though a basic mechanical aptitude is beneficial.

Objectives

Candidates will gain the practical and theoretical knowledge needed to safely store, handle, mount and change abrasive wheel discs, meeting the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. A refresher is recommended every five years in line with HSE guidance.

Course Contents

Hazards, risks and controls, markings and selection, storing, handling and transporting, inspecting and testing, components and functions, assembling and mounting, and relevant abrasive wheels legislation.
